Today I am featuring Christopher Davis' I Walk With My Wife in the Evening.

Christopher Davis' I Walk With my Wife in the Evening is an absolutely stunning comic book, depicting, techincally, just what he says in the title, but in reality, it is a journey along the stream of consciousness, as Davis' mind wanders through different thoughts and scenarios, all ably depicted by Davis' keen eye for design and layout.

Throughout the comic, there is a definite sense of foreboding, and a lot of the stories in his mind are of the morbid kind (like thoughts of nuclear war or how people would react during a chemical attack), and Davis' art really nicely gives off the right mood for these dark thoughts.

At the same time, it is, after all, "just" a walk in the evening, so things perk up when we return to reality. In a lot of ways, it reminds me of Skottie Young's work on the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, that extremely detailed but extremely creative artistic approach.
