"Fifty Shades of Grey" star Jamie Dornan could be the latest big name attached to the upcoming Robin Hood movie, "Robin Hood: Origins."

Multiple reports suggest that Dornan is now in the final stages of negotiations to join the film as the character Will Scarlett while other sources, including Coming Soon and Game Spot, say Dornan is already confirmed as a new member of the star-studded cast.

There are multiple versions of each character in different adaptations of Robin Hood, but Scarlett always appears as a member of Robin Hood’s band of Merry Men. He is also typically depicted as an unusually fashionable member of the bunch, and an incredibly skilled swordsman. Multiple incarnations depict Scarlett as a man with a poor temper

If Dornan has indeed signed on for the film, he joins Taron Egerton, who will play Robin Hood, Jamie Foxx, who's been cast as Little John and Eve Hewson, who will play the part of Maid Marian.

The Otto Bathurst-directed film is said to feature a “gritty” tone, and hopes to add depth to a modern version of the age-old folk hero.

"Robin Hood: Origins" will follow the hero after he returns from The Crusades only to find that corruption has swept over Sherwood Forest. This is when Robin Hood and his Merry Men set out to address the evils with their own unique and somewhat controversial brand of justice.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson will be producing the film underneath their Appian Way production company along with Safehouse Production’s Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell.

Even without the Robin Hood film on his itinerary, however, Dornan seems to be quite a busy man these days. He recently reprised his role as Christian Grey for two more installments of "Fifty Shades of Grey," and he is also slated to be starring alongside Ben Mendelsohn in "Untogether," which is scheduled to begin production next month.
