Webtoon is the perfect online platform for comic and manga fans in need of easily accessible stories that feature the art and writing of the industry's up and coming creators. On top of having new comics coming out daily, the stories on Webtoon are also ripe for cartoon and anime adaptation, as is the case for the upcoming Lore Olympus animated series. The following five webtoons are some of the best stories that could also be reimagined for the small screen.

Yuna & Kawachan

Lauren Schmidt's Yuna & Kawachan is a wonderful mix of the softness and cuteness of a slice of life story, with the adventures and action of an apocalyptic saga. After monsters take over her town, Yuna -- a school girl abandoned by her family -- and Kawachan -- a mascot battling PTSD -- take on the apocalypse.

One of the best parts of apocalyptic narratives is the fact that, when told properly, they emphasize the beauty of the little things in life. This webcomic is full of nostalgia for the peace that comes with the mundanities of life prior to the apocalypse, as well as an appreciation for the small victories Kawachan and Yuna accomplish together. An anime would further highlight the beauty in this tale while also contrasting it against the horrific monsters that plague Yuna's town.

Cursed Princess Club

Gwendolyn, the protagonist of LambCat's Cursed Princess Club, is a princess with a big heart -- but she lacks the other qualities associated with princesses, like an angelic voice and gorgeous looks. While she feels out of place in this role, she finally meets the Cursed Princess Club, a group of princesses who've either been hexed or cast aside.

One of the appeals of this webtoon is the fact that it inverts traditional princess narratives, which anime has often done when it comes to long-lived archetypes. One of the most successful examples of this for shoujo anime is Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Cursed Princess Club can be another successful inversion of a popular archetype, leaning into the highly feminine energy of both shoujo anime and princess narratives while exploring the overlooked facets of being a princess. Its cast of characters also provides a strong ensemble, something other shoujo anime like Sailor Moon and Ouran Highschool Host Club have featured with great success.

Not Even Bones

Based on Rebecca Schaeffer's young adult novel and illustrated by Alai Cinereo, Not Even Bones is a monster-hunting webtoon from the perspective of Nita, the person responsible for dissecting and preparing supernatural creatures for the black market. While she sticks to working on the dead, her mother plans to fully bring Nita into the family business.

The story is similar in a sense to Demon Slayer, because both lead characters must find a way to deal with supernatural threats in new ways after they've been personally impacted by said creatures. It's also similar to anime like Tokyo Ghoul and Attack on Titan because it introduces a world of monsters; however, as time goes on, protagonists and readers start to question who are the true antagonists and what defines a monster.  Not Even Bones would make a fantastic dark anime, exploring its world of monsters and diving into moral questions about death and family.

#Killstagram

For fans of Netflix's You, Ryoung's #Killstagram is the perfect webtoon. Remi Do is an incredible social media influencer, documenting her beautiful life on Instagram everyday. While she puts most of her life online, one of her thousands of followers happens to be a serial killer and takes an unhealthy interest, then proceeds to stalk and torment Remi Do.

The art style bounces between highly romantic and cute to haunting and dark and this unique mix of styles would be compelling to see animated. If this were made an anime, it would also satisfy anime viewers who love crime thrillers, especially fans of Erased, a manga and anime that blends tender moments of slice of life with horrific crimes against the innocent, creating excellent tension and fear.

unOrdinary

Uru-chan's unOrdinary takes place in a high school where the elite poses incredible powers, but the protagonist, John, goes unnoticed and lacks any special abilities; however, he does have a plan to topple the social order of his school. This webtoon reads as a classic shonen manga while mixing super battles with high school drama.

There have been many anime that focus on teens with special abilities as they deal with the mundanes of life on top of epic battles, like with Sailor Moon and Narutohowever, the most similar anime to unOrdinary is My Hero Academia. This formula is often a huge success for anime adaptations, so unOrdinary is already set up for greatness if it were animated. Plus its dynamic art and fun concept solidify it as a compelling story.
