If you’ve got a 3D printer and an undying love for the X-Men’s Wolverine, now is your time to shine because the blueprints for a set of fully-extended claws are available on the My Mini Factory database. No, you won’t be cutting through lines of Hydra or A.I.M. thugs with these nonlethal claws, but at least you’ll have a head start on a killer Halloween costume.
The claw designs come courtesy of Print That Thing via My Mini Factory. The blades use a 3D printed base that the wearer clutches in their fist. Three printed claws then extend from the base between the wearer's fingers. The claws themselves are angled slightly upward, creating the illusion of blades protruding from between the wearer’s knuckles.
While this version of the iconic mutant’s killer claws goes for a realistic look, there's another set available that has the added bonus if being able to extend them with the flick of a wrist.
Back in October of 2015 the 3D printing group le FabShop, useing Autodesk Fusion 360 and a fifth generation MakerBot Replicator, designed and printed a set of fully-functional telescopic claws that extended from a wrist-mounted container using the force of the wearer’s own motion. Plans for the older, extendable claws can be found on Thingiverse.
