WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for 3Below: Tales of Arcadia, streaming now on Netflix.

Guillermo del Toro's 3Below: Tales of Arcadia is the second part of an animated trilogy trilogy that began in 2016 with Trollhunters. As 3Below brings the Akiridion-5 royals, Princess Aja and Prince Krel, to Earth, they partner with the new Trollhunter Jim, his soldier Toby and the rest of their hunters to bridge the gap between the cosmic and mystical heroes hidden in the suburbs of Arcadia.

However, the final chapter of the trilogy, Wizards, will be release later this year on Netflix, and, unsurprisingly, 3Below cleverly sets up what may be an intriguing war that blends galactic and magical super-beings.

Although 3Below doesn't give away too much, seeds are planted throughout the season for the Akiridion and Trollhunters movement, as the royal alien siblings team with the hunters to fight off Morando's forces sent to Earth. The big connection between the two realms comes when King Fialkov and Queen Coranda bring the core of a Celestial, Gaylen, to Earth, according to prophecy, and hand off the energy source to the Trollhunter who came before Jim, Kanjigar.

Kanjigar and his magical alliance promised to keep the relic safe in their market, which acts as a treasure chest. The flashback details the strong bond between the aliens and the Trollhunters, which is teased to have existed in the days of Merlin. When we also see the royal siblings trying to call Jim and his Trollhunter team for help later, the hunters are in New Jersey, fighting off new armored villains, the likes of which they've never seen. That keeps them from coming to the aid of Aja, Krel and Toby, but it suggests the prophecy of both races uniting to fight an all-powerful foe is coming true at last.

It comes full-circle in the end, when Steve (Aja's boyfriend), Toby and his troll (aka Wingman or Aarghaumont) meet a new cat with glasses who leads an ominous conversation. He turns out to be a familiar, who warns them about an apocalyptic threat. The cat insists they must now form a new team to save the universe, and they go off onto this new mission, possibly to meet his wizard.

Now, with Krel on Earth and Aja returned to Akiridion, it's easy for them to reunite and join the Trollhunters against whatever threat lies ahead. Aja has wormhole technology Krel created, which will allow her forces to arrive swiftly. Given that they received immense help from these hunters, the stage is set to form one big army. The mysterious cat doesn't name the encroaching villain, but fans are speculating it could bring someone with links to Morgana (Merlin's traitorous apprentice), who was trapped in the Shadow Realm at the end of Trollhunters Season 3.

Gaylen's core did turn Morando into a giant godlike Titan, and while he died when Fialkov and Coranda used their life essence to blast him away with the cannon left behind by another Celestial, we don't know where the core of the Celestials exist for Morgana or a hidden ally to repurpose for another scheme. But the way Jim spoke of Merlin this season, and how Kanjigar hinted at Akiridion's connection to wizards eons earlier the stage is set for Wizards.
