10. "Dead Presidents" Deadpool (Volume 3) #1-6

The start of Gerry Duggan and Brian Posehn's run on Deadpool began with this offbeat storyline with art by Tony Moore and Val Staples, where the dead Presidents of the United States have been revived and now they want to destroy our current country and start all over again. Deadpool has been tasked to re-kill all of them. Along with him on this journey is the ghost of Benjamin Franklin (from Steve Englehart's Doctor Strange run). It is bizarrely awesome...

Duggan and Posehn made it quickly known how right they were for the character.

9. "Dracula's Gauntlet" Deadpool: Dracula's Gauntlet #1-7

Gerry Duggan, Brian Posehn and Reilly Brown delivered this mini-series which introduced Deadpool to his wife, the vampire, Shiklah...

It's a fun, over-the-top adventure with surprising heart.

8. "Dead Reckoning" Deadpool (Volume 1) #23-25

This was sort of the climax to Joe Kelly's run on Deadpool ("sort of" because Kelly never really knew WHEN his run on Deadpool was ending, exactly), as Deadpool must become the savior of the planet, however, what he is SAVING the planet from is world peace. Captain America tried to stop the invasion, but he failed and now Cap is possessed by the invading force. So Deadpool must ask himself - what is more important, freedom or world wide happiness? His answer is delivered in a way only Joe Kelly could deliver it (the art is by Walter McDaniel and a bunch of different inkers)...

Perhaps the most classic moment ever involving Captain America getting kicked in the balls.

7. "If Looks Could Kill" Cable and Deadpool #1-6

In the opening arc to the team-up series, Cable and Deadpool (by Fabian Nicieza, Patrick Zircher, Mark Brooks and a bunch of inkers), Deadpool has been recruited by "The One World Church," who want to infect the world with a virus that turns everyone blue. They want to use Deadpool's healing powers to create this. He goes along with it, but doesn't realize that the process would involve basically melting him. Meanwhile, Cable tries to stop their plans and in the process HE is almost killed. Ultimately, the two men save each other through unusual means...

That process left them connected to each other, so that when one teleports the other teleports with him. This sort of then FORCES the two to become partners, although Deadpool might not like what Cable has planned for the virus and his further plans to help save the world.

6. "Healing Factor" Deadpool #65-66, 68-69

Gail Simone (with UDON Studios on art) had a great, but short run on Deadpool. Her run was interrupted when Marvel decided to reboot a few of their mutant titles, specifically Deadpool, X-Force and Cable. In the case of Cable and X-Force, they just got new names (Soldier-X and X-Statix) but Deadpool got a brand-new lead character, Agent-X, as Deadpool's story seemingly came to an end when he fought against the master assassin, Black Swan, who can read people's minds (thus making him hard to defeat in a fight). Deadpool, though, has a card up his sleeve - his craziness...

A great send-off by Simone. Impressively heartfelt while still being offbeat and funny.
