24 Movie Ticks Along on Schedule, Although Without a Director

The clock is ticking on Fox's 24 movie, starring Kiefer Sutherland as super agent Jack Bauer. Writer Mark Bomback (Live Free or Die Hard, Jack the Giant Killer, The Wolverine) has until the end of the year to finish up his version of the script, which was originally penned by State of Play and Hunger Games screenwriter Billy Ray, Deadline reports.

After the new year, pre-production will kick off to coordinate a start date with Sutherland's availability, which begins in April. While director Tony Scott is no longer attached to the project, the studio apparently has five candidates to fill the role. Producer Brian Grazer, who worked on the original television series, will be making sure the film hits all of its ticking clock points.
