Chadwick Boseman is trading out his vibranium Black Panther suit for an NYPD uniform and standard-issue sidearm in his next film 21 Bridges.
The upcoming action-thriller finds Boseman portraying a controversial police detective, haunted by his father's death in the line of duty. Years later, Boseman's character finds himself hunting cop killers on the loose in Manhattan, and he stumbles across a conspiracy that may put him in the crosshairs as well.
With all of Manhattan a hunting ground between him, the cop killers and those embroiled in the conspiracy, Boseman is in for one long night in the city that never sleeps as the police close off all 21 bridges leading into Manhattan.
The film marks the fourth collaboration between Boseman and the Russo Brothers, after their work together in the Marvel Cinematic Universe; all three men are producing the film, with Brian Kirk (Game of Thrones) directing. Principal photography started this past September.
Directed by Brian Kirk and produced by Joe and Anthony Russo and Chadwick Boseman, 21 Bridges stars Chadwick Boseman, Sienna Miller, Stephan James, Keith David, Taylor Kitsch and J.K. Simmons. It opens on July 12 in theaters everywhere.
