Between new consoles launching and plenty of games set to release this year, 2020 is going to be an exciting one for gamers. Publishers are releasing heavy hitting titles such as The Last of Us Part II, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Half-Life Alyx and Cyberpunk 2077 this year, so anyone who's been at a loss for what to play should breathe a sigh of relief and brush the dust off their consoles.

However, make sure to save up your pocket money because there are still quite a few big titles coming in 2020 that have not yet been given release dates. Let's go through some these games and what we know about them to help gamers budget accordingly.

Minecraft Dungeons

All hail the return of the blocks and a Youtube feed flooded with Let's Plays of this popular franchise. Minecraft Dungeons takes inspiration from classic dungeon crawler games, and will have players battling their way through levels of monsters with blocky weapons while discovering treasures and power-ups.

Dungeons is said to be releasing this Spring, so gamers probably don't have too long of a wait left. The game will have a four-player co-op mode for those who want to battle with friends. Players can personalize characters with melee attacks, long-range attacks or just bowl through mobs with armor, so enjoy the E-rated violence and give those stupidly scary Creepers their sweet comeuppance.

Ghost of Tsushima

Releasing on PlayStation 4

Anybody hankering for more samurai content should keep an eye out for Ghost of Tsushima, an open-world stealth game that features a samurai named Jin Sakai. Jin is trying to survive the first Mongol invasion of Japan in 1274 on Tsushima island, and the developers have tried to make the game as realistic as possible with beautifully detailed landscapes.

Players will need to guide Jin on his quest to help liberate the island from the Mongol empire and help him decide whether to fight each enemy honorably with his katana or break his bushido and avoid combat. The trailer reveals that Jin can chain together katana combos of slick attacks, shoot arrows or enter stealth mode to evade enemies.

Little Nightmares 2

Releasing on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch

This sequel is an eerie puzzle-platformer that follows the adventures of Six and a new character, Mono. In this installment, our hangry, yellow raincoat wearing protagonist must make her way to the Black Tower to confront a mysterious being called the Broadcaster. Little Nightmares 2 will take players through a variety of unsettling environments such as woods filled with TVs, gray urban landscapes and classrooms of porcelain students headed by a disturbing teacher. Mind control seems to be a heavy theme throughout and we hope this game will terrify us as much as the first one.

Watch Dogs: Legion

Releasing on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X,

Legion will be the third entry in the Watch Dogs franchise and a direct sequel to the previous game. This action-adventure game takes place in a post-apocalyptic London with urban teens uniting to kick out an authoritarian regime. If that sounds a little too much like a Young Adult novel for you, don't worry. Legion allows players to control a wide range of characters, including an elderly assassin who isn't old, she's just experienced. This widespread recruitment system will let players build a large roster, but be warned: these characters can be lost during a play-through.

Godfall

Releasing on PC and PlayStation 5

The fantasy setting of this upcoming RPG promises players a thrilling experience with gameplay footage showing knights wearing sleek armor and wielding fantastic weapons. Godfall will contain staple fantasy components such as magic, arcane realms and warrior classes for players to have enjoy. Not much has been revealed about the story, but the game is said to be a loot-driven RPG that focuses on real-time melee combat. This real-time mechanic should turn up the heat when facing tough bosses, so make sure not to be too dazzled by the unique visuals.

Halo Infinite

Releasing on PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X

The latest Halo entry will be a launch title for the Xbox Series X, but fans shouldn't worry if there isn't enough money for a new toy this holiday season as the game will also release on PC and Xbox One.

Details are sparse, but trailers so far have confirmed that Master Chief will again be the central character, taking on a more central role than in Halo 5. We don't know anything about the story yet, we know Infinite will be a spiritual reboot with an emotional and human core. Plus, those who play it on the Series X will get to experience it all with the graphics and absurdly smooth frame rate next-gen has to offer.
