2015 31 Days of Comics - A Gorgeous Comic

Our pal Seth Hahne, of GoodOKBad fame, came up with this 31 Days of Comics challenge, one of those things where each day of the month you're given a different category that you then make a choice of a comic to fill that category. We did it last year and I figured it would be a fun bit to do again, so here we are! Click here to see each of the categories so far!

We continue with Day 8, which is A Gorgeous Comic.

Read on for my pick and then you can share yours!

Last year I went with David Mazzucchelli's Asterios Polyp.

This time around, I'll go with Darwyn Cooke's New Frontier.

Right off the bat, Cooke makes it clear that this will be a visual treat, as we see the Losers end up on Dinosaur Island, where they are picked off one by one until only Johnny Cloud remains and he is near death, as well...

And that was just the tip of the bucket in this stylistic tribute to the proto-Silver Age DC Universe.

Like how the Martian Manhunter came to choose the John Jones look...

Ted Grant's last victory...

John Henry Irons' revenge...

Hal Jordan's goodbye to Carol Ferris...

And that is literally just a small sampling of all the beautiful Cooke art from this gorgeous comic series.
