11 New Images Debut From Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Entertainment Weekly and USA Today have unveiled 11 new images from Abraham Lincoln: Vampire, the upcoming mashup of horror and history from from director Timur Bekmambetov and producer Tim Burton.

Based on Seth Grahame-Smith’s bestselling 2010 novel, the movie chronicles the secret life of the ax-wielding 16th president, who we’re told waged a clandestine lifelong war against the bloodsuckers after one of them killed his mother.

“The joke is in the title, and then we fully commit to it,” star Benjamin Walker tells EW. “[...] It’s told through the structure of Lincoln’s actual life. You not only see these huge fight scenes and great moments of drama, but you get sort of the greatest hits of Lincoln’s life, from the mysterious death of his mother through the Gettysburg address. You get a portrait of this man, as well as a thriller.”

Grahame-Smith wrote the screenplay for the film, which also stars Dominic Cooper, Anthony Mackie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jimmi Simpson, Robin McLeavy, Alan Tudyk and Rufus Sewell. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter opens June 22.
