After a two-week hiatus, The 100 is back for its final stretch of episodes, with its series finale scheduled to air Sept. 30 on The CW, effectively bringing the post-apocalyptic series to a close after seven seasons.

The network has released the official synopsis for the final episode, ominously titled "The Last War" in a nod to the season's primary antagonist Bill Cadogan's obsessive quest to prepare humanity for the coming conflict. The finale is written and directed by series creator Jason Rothenberg, marking Rothenberg's directorial debut, with the plot synopsis below:

SERIES FINALE – After all the fighting and loss, Clarke (Eliza Taylor) and her friends have reached the final battle. But is humanity worthy of something greater? Lindsey Morgan, Bob Morley, Marie Avgeropoulos, Richard Harmon, Shannon Kook, JR Bourne, Shelby Flannery and Chuku Modu also star. The episode was written and directed by Jason Rothenberg (#716). Original airdate 9/30/2020.

The official synopsis for the series' penultimate episode had teased that main characters Clarke Griffin and Octavia Blake would team up for a desperate rescue mission. With the most recent episode ending with the shocking death of a longtime main character, the two women will work together to prevent the group from losing anyone else close to them as they prepare for the final battle against the Disciples.
