WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for The 100 Season 7, Episode 13, "Blood Giant," which aired Wednesday on The CW.

Before The 100 went on a two-week hiatus, it ended on a cliffhanger as Bill Cadogan and the Disciples from Bardo arrived on Sanctum just as the villainous Sheidheda was crowned the leader of the unified Grounder tribes there. The two factions had steadily accumulated power and menaced the main characters in parallel story arcs throughout Season 7, with Cadogan's arrival leading to the plot threads finally converging in what seemed sure to be a violent collision.

However, while Sheidheda proved to be a master tactician and peerless warrior, Cadogan was quickly revealed to be every inch the longtime villain's equal -- or at least someone unwilling to leap into the unknown without taking the proper precautions. Moments after the Disciples arrived on Sanctum in the show's latest episode, Sheidheda motioned for his most trusted guards to subdue them only for the Disciples to reveal a cadre of their troops had arrived too using Bardo's advanced cloaking technology. In a matter of seconds, the unseen Disciples gunned down the Grounder soldiers, leaving only Sheidheda and an unarmed Indra alive.

Sheidheda certainly has no intention of surrendering to Cadogan and his soldiers, though. So despite being outnumbered and outgunned, he quickly lunges at the cult leader in an attempt to take him out himself. However not all the Disciples revealed themselves when the Grounder guards were dispatched, and yet another cloaked Disciple intercepts and stabs Sheidheda, stopping the villain's attack. When medical personnel reveal that one of the Grounder leader's kidneys was stabbed, Sheidheda is effectively left at the Disciples' mercy. He is bound alongside Indra in his throne room as Cadogan and his loyalists continue their search for the Mind Drive, which holds deeper secrets to the Anomaly Stones and their potential to trigger the next step in human evolution.

Ever since the Season 7 premiere, the show has built up Sheidheda as the final episodes' primary antagonist. Quickly manipulating the rival factions on Sanctum, Sheidheda maneuvered himself back into power and united the Grounders under his rule with a bloody fist. However, Cadogan -- who had briefly been introduced through archival footage in Season 4 -- resurfaced with a faction of his own that was fanatically devoted to his cause and possessed far superior technology. And in the end, when they finally meet on Sanctum, Cadogan's element of surprise and advanced weaponry effectively outmatching Sheidheda in every way.

Of course, Cadogan hadn't anticipated the various natural hazards on Sanctum or Clarke's own determination, as she quickly seizes control of the situation, killing several Disciples before forcing the cult leader to launch a rescue mission for her friends, who he'd exiled to another planet. Meanwhile, Sheidheda appears to be largely neutralized. He is mortally wounded from his brief encounter with the Disciples, and Indra orders Sanctum's medical personnel to deny him any treatment that might save his life. Sheidheda was successful in reclaiming the power he sought ever since the start of Season 7, but the warlord couldn't foresee the arrival of new, more advanced aggressors. As a result, his rule turns out to be incredibly short-lived as The 100 heads into its endgame.

The 100 stars Eliza Taylor, Marie Avgeropoulos, Bob Morley, Lindsey Morgan, Richard Harmon, Tasya Teles, Shannon Kook and J.R. Bourne. The series airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
