As principal photography on the final season of The 100 continues, series creator and showrunner Jason Rothenberg has debunked recent reports about the planned prequel spinoff series.

Reports originally claimed the prequel would tentatively be titled "Anaconda." However, Rothenberg has clarified that "Anaconda" is simply the title to the backdoor pilot produced as part of The 100 Season 7, while the prequel series itself has not yet revealed its final title.

The prequel is reportedly set 97 years before the start of the main series, after the majority of humanity has been wiped out by a series of nuclear strikes. The survivors must then navigate the harsh post-apocalyptic world, facing new dangers in the ruins of civilizations.

It is unknown when the prequel's backdoor pilot will air as part of Season 7. However, the final season has received 16 episodes to bring the total episode count for the main series, appropriately, to 100.
