Ryan Reynolds has portrayed Deadpool in two movies to date, and both were faithful to the source material and matched the tone of the comics in every way possible. We've already seen enemies like Ajax and Juggernaut take on the Merc with a Mouth, but nothing has been confirmed about the villains for the third movie.

With that in mind, we take a look at 10 villains that could be in Deadpool 3, and how they might play a role in Wade Wilson's next big screen outing. There's potential for a link to be created with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but there are still plenty of opportunities for the rogues gallery from the Deadpool comics to make an appearance too.

10 Ellen Whitby

In Deadpool 2, Wade Wilson blows himself to pieces after losing the love of his life. With Vanessa gone, there's an opportunity for a new love interest to enter the fray, even if it is one-sided. In the comics, Dr. Ellen Whitby treated Deadpool when he was a patient in Crossmore Institution, and it soon became clear she was obsessed with him.

When Wade visited her apartment, he finds various body parts he'd lost over the years, which would eventually join together to create Evil Deadpool. There hasn't been a female villain like Whitby before - at least in the MCU - and it gives him the opportunity to make fun of the obvious comparison to Harley Quinn.

9 Mister Sinister

Mister Sinister X-Men

Being a trainee X-Men proved quite a challenge for Deadpool, but by the end of Deadpool 2, he has easily shown just how much of an asset he can be to Colossus. Whilst Mister Sinister is more of an X-Men enemy, he's the perfect choice to bring a much different tone to the new Deadpool movie.

He's your atypical mad scientist, and was responsible for creating the mutant powerhouse known as Apocalypse. Not only could the film redo the lackluster appearance of Apocalypse in X-Men: Age of Apocalypse, but it could also feature Mister Sinister as his creator. He's fascinated with genetics and experimentation, making Deadpool the perfect test subject.

8 T-Ray

Perhaps one of Deadpool's biggest enemies is T-Ray who once claimed to be the real Wade Wilson. The two have fought multiple times in the comics, and we may finally see them battle on the big screen. T-Ray believes that a mercenary called Jack (who he believes is Deadpool) stole his identity and killed his wife.

This sent him to Japan where he learned sorcery and became a muscular albino after selling his soul. We know Deadpool's been to Japan in the movies, and even though the time frame is much different in the comics, the possibility of seeing T-Ray in the movies could be likely.

7 Bullseye

When Netflix's Daredevil was cancelled, it left one of Matt Murdock's enemies without a home. Bullseye is such an underrated villain, so to see him appear in Deadpool 3 would be a dream come true. Like Deadpool, he's a killer for hire, and his bizarre friendship with the Merc with a Mouth could provide a lot of laughs and plenty of action.

They have a similar sense of humor, have been friends for a long time, and both have huge amounts of respect for one and other. There's plenty of material from the comics that could be used as the basis for Bullseye's arrival, but their back and forth friendship could provide a lot of great scenes together.

6 Daken

It's no surprise that Deadpool is a big fan of Wolverine, and the constant jibes at Hugh Jackman, both in the films and on social media, have become a running joke. With Jackman hanging up the claws, there's no reason why we couldn't see Wolverine's son, Daken, make an appearance in Deadpool 3.

He has already fought Deadpool in the comics, even cutting off his hand. To see him in the films would be great, especially as Wolverine has been a part of the films without ever making an appearance. Daken has his father's mutant healing abilities and also has similar claws. It's a left-field choice, but an interesting prospect nonetheless.

5 Black Swan

After being credited with taking out four high profile mobsters, Deadpool found a new enemy in the guise of Black Swan, as it was him that had assassinated them. Raised in a German circus, Black Swan became a master in hand-to-hand combat and marksmanship, as well as using his mutant ability to infect minds with a telepathic virus.

If Black Swan was to appear in Deadpool 3, it could see Wade Wilson travelling to Germany to take him out. However, they do become allies at a later date in the comics, so it could be a way for Deadpool's new family to gain another member. He's in no way the biggest villain Deadpool's ever faced, but he'd definitely provide a challenge.

4 Madcap

Madcap's face melts

As far as origin stories go, Madcap's fits perfectly with the feel of the Deadpool movies. He was on a day trip organised by his family's church group, and after a collision with a truck he was flung from the bus into a pool of chemicals known as Compound X07. He lied in it for hours, causing him to develop regenerative abilities.

With his will shattered and his family dead, Madcap loses faith in humanity. He can make people go crazy, and his unstable disposition would add an heir of ridiculous not seen before. Both Deadpool and Madcap fuse together in the comics when Thor reduces both of them to ash, meaning something similar could happen in the movies.

3 Stryfe

With Cable now fully established in the Deadpool movies, there's a good chance we could see one of his biggest enemies in Deadpool 3. Stryfe is an evil clone of Cable, created after the son of Scott Summers and Madelyne Prior was infected with a techo-organic virus and sent to the future.

It could mean that in some fantastical and inventive way, Apocalypse could appear in the sequel alongside Stryfe as he took him in as his son in the comics. Stryfe also formed a terrorist group known as the Mutant Liberation Front who end up capturing Rusty AKA Firefist, so it's definitely a possibility.

2 Lady Death

The possibilities for Lady Death in Deadpool 3 are vast. Deadpool tried to kill himself in Deadpool 2, but was rescued by Colossus as his body parts were strewn all over his apartment. In the comics, Deadpool has quite the soft spot for Lady Death, and seeing her in the movies adds an interesting direction for his curiosity in saying goodbye to this mortal coil.

Deadpool also ended up in a love triangle with Lady Death and Thanos, but with Thanos dead this might not happen. However, there's definitely an opportunity to flip it on its head and feature Thane - Thanos' son - as the one who curses Deadpool with life so that he can never be with Lady Death. It's a longshot, but one that could certainly work in the sequel.

1 The Champion Of The Universe

Tryco Slatterus AKA the Champion of the Universe is an Elder born billions of years ago who scourers the universe looking for the best fighters to challenge, and destroys anyone and anything that he doesn't deem worthy enough. The Deadpool movies haven't dabbled in the cosmos as of yet, so the Champion would be a great enemy to start with.

When he encounters Deadpool in the comics, he's left stranded by the Deadpool Corps in space. The Deadpool Corps may never play a role in the movies, but that doesn't mean that Deadpool's new family can't face off against the Champion and even head into space.
