Anime from the 90s are considerably different from present-day, just like every other form of entertainment is. Owing to digital evolution, the beautifully hand sketched cels in anime are a thing of the past. But that doesn't deter a true anime fan from admiring the traditional hand-drawn animation. Gone are the days when a celluloid sheet with three holes was the be-all and end-all of anime aesthetics.

Sure, the technology evolved, but the writing and genre-pioneering of anime such as Neon Genesis Evolution, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball, Ghost in the Shell and countless others, remains unsurpassed. Here are 10 best-rated anime of the 90s, according to IMDb.
