A new actor is potentially in the running to portray James Bond.

Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page has emerged as a potential candidate for the role of James Bond, according to British betting firm Ladbrokes. Ladbrokes estimates that Page now has a 5/1 chance to replace Daniel Craig as the super spy, jumping up quite a bit from his previous 40/1 chance at Christmas 2020. Bridgerton's success is cited as a factor in the odds shift.

"Tom Hardy still leads the way as favorite, with James Norton close behind in second place. But it really is all to play for in the race for 007 and RJP has a great chance if the odds are anything to go by," Ladbrokes representative Alex Apati said, while also noting that Page is in a similar position as Cillian Murphy and Richard Madden -- both of whom have been floated as Bond successors in the past. Apati conceded that the timing of Bridgerton's success may eventually lead to Page taking up the role.

Page has also fueled Bond speculation on Twitter. On Dec. 16, Page tweeted a video of himself with the caption "Regency, royalty. Shaken and stirred." The caption was a reference to how Bond prefers his martinis.

Craig will portray Bond for the last time in No Time To Die. Directed and co-written by Cary Fukunaga, No Time to Die also stars Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Rory Kinnear, Léa Seydoux, Ben Whishaw, Jeffrey Wright, Ana de Armas, Dali Benssalah, David Dencik, Lashana Lynch, Billy Magnussen and Rami Malek. The film arrives in theaters April 2, 2021.
