Heading into October, Steam has a wealth of new and overlooked, seasonally-appropriate titles to dive into -- although not all of them can be seen on the front page of the platform's store. Indie titles, in particular, tend to fall by the wayside, especially once the algorithm gets involved. Recommendations can help any gamer sort through the clutter.

This week, we're highlighting new and underappreciated Steam games across a variety of genres and gameplay styles, from a life sim, to a city builder, to a card battler, to a witchy dating sim, to a roguelike platformer. Check out each title below.

Circadian City

Circadian City is a unique, pixel art life simulation where the player controls their character's entire 24-hour day -- including their dreams. In addition to working, flirting, making friends and meeting basic needs for their characters, players can also craft dreamlike objects, choose a personality path, find random encounters and more. There are a multitude of playstyles in the dream world, which likely means there's an appealing option for nearly everyone.

Available on Steam; $11.99

Littlewood

Littlewood is a town builder and life sim that takes place after the player character defeats the Dark Wizard -- but their memories of the event are long gone. As they explore caves, ask people to come live in their town and begin to rebuild their life, they hope to unlock their past.

This peaceful pixel RPG by Sean Young raised over $82 thousand on Kickstarter and was available early access on Steam for several months before its official release in August.

Available on Steam; $14.99

Mythgard

Mythgard is a digital CCG akin to Hearthstone, in which players battle ancient deities and creatures of myth through tactical gameplay. In addition to placing their minions and casting spells, players can also create artifacts that alter the rules themselves. This is a single-player campaign, which means players aren't just playing endless games against a computer: There's a story here, which can only be uncovered through gameplay.

Available on Steam; Free

So May It Be

Fans of The Craft or even Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will likely love So May It Be, a witch dating simulator with three possible romances to explore. Players are part of a small coven in their senior year of high school, spending time with friends in the lead-up to the annual Harvest Festival.

This point-and-click dating sim allows players to flirt, do digital crafts, pet a cat and have several serious (and not-so-serious) conversations with their friends about the future. Each romance is unique and some even offer multiple endings, depending on the player's choices.

Available on Steam; $11.99

Spelunky 2

Spelunky 2 is the long-awaited sequel to Spelunky. This roguelike, 2D platformer tasks players to the literal moon as a new cast of characters searches for treasure and missing family members. Challenges are randomized for infinite replayability and there's tons to explore; there's even a base camp where players can rest between missions, make friends and build a community.

Available on Steam and PlayStation 4; $19.99
