It's been a minute since we last heard any rumblings on a sequel to 2009's surprise undead apocalypse comedy, "Zombieland," but in an interview during AMC's "Geeking Out," screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reece -- the duo also responsible for "Deadpool" -- revealed, among other things, that they are currently hard at work on a script for the next film.

“That is breaking news that we're on 'Zombieland 2' right now," the duo stated. "We're sitting with Woody [Harrelson] tomorrow and are going to sort of walk him through some of the stuff we want to do. All the cast is pretty excited."

The original film starred Harrelson alongside Jesse Eisenberg ("Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice") Emma Stone ("The Amazing Spider-Man") and Abigail Breslin ("Scream Queens") as they and a handful of other survivors made their way across America toward a fabled Los Angeles safe haven. There's no additional word on casting, although it's pretty safe to assume Harrelson will be involved if they’re bringing their sequel ideas to him. No timetable has been given for a "Zombieland 2" release, but seeing as how the pair are also hard at work on "Deadpool 2," as well as Eisenberg's likely continued involvement within the DC Films universe, it might be a while longer before the film shambles into theaters.
