Comics legends Roy Thomas and Howard Chaykin introduced an anthropomorphic green rabbit named Jaxxon in Marvel's original "Star Wars" comics in the late 1970s, though he quickly faded into obscurity. Now "Sex Criminals" artist and "Howard the Duck" writer Chip Zdarsky has brought him back -- for a confrontation with Darth Vader, no less -- in a variant cover he illustrated for November's "Vader Down" #1, one that surely does not reflect the contents of the comic inside.

This isn't the first time Jaxxon has appeared on one of Marvel's recent "Star Wars" variant covers. He also appeared on John Tyler Christopher's "Party Variant" for "Star Wars" #1, released this past January, albeit in a considerably less heroic stance.

"Vader Down" is the first crossover between Marvel's current Star Wars comics line, with the story starting in "Vader Down" #1 and continuing in the ongoing "Star Wars" and "Darth Vader" series. "Vader Down" #1, written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by Mike Deodato, is scheduled for release on Nov. 18.
