Despite persistent rumors that Jason Momoa will play Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, neither the Game of Thrones alum nor Warner Bros. will confirm the role (although he has had a little fun tweaking fans). However, today director Zack Snyder stopped just short of revealing the King of the Seven Seas will appear in a call to a Detroit radio show defending the superhero.

According to TheWrap, the host of Detroit's 97.1 The Ticket's "Stoney and Bill" show had been trash-talking Aquaman and his possible inclusion in the film when Snyder, on his way to the set of Batman v Superman, called to set the them straight.

"You guys were disparaging -- a little bit -- Aquaman ... just a teensy [...] I don't want to, like, giving anything away about the movie or anything like that, but Aquaman has some cool abilities that I think people are, like, 'Oh, what? Does he talk to animals, because that seems like what he does, or fish, or whatever?' Snyder said. "Y'know, the cool thing is that with Aquaman, his trident -- people don't realize this -- that could actually cut the flesh of Superman, if they came in contact. That's a thing that's in the canon. And he's super-strong, because of course, he can exist at these super-deep depths, so when he comes up here it's like he's crazy strong.

"But, anyway," he continued, "not to say he's in my movie, or anything like that, he's just pretty badass -- he has the potential to be badass. That's all I'm saying."

Yes, Zack, that's all you're saying. TheWrap confirmed it was indeed Snyder calling. You can listen to the exchange here.

Opening March 25, 2016, Batman v Superman stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman ... and probably Jason Momoa as Aquaman.
