One by one, they were gone…the first four issues of VERTIGO’s Y: THE LAST MAN, that is, each of which sold out at DC within days of going on
sale. Now, with Y: THE LAST MAN #5 joining the ranks of sold out issues and the Y: THE LAST MAN DOUBLE FEATURE EDITION (STAR16695), collecting issues #1 and 2 selling briskly, DC announces the rush solicitation of the Y: THE LAST MAN – UNMANNED TP (OCT025167).
Y: THE LAST MAN – UNMANNED collects the first five issues of the acclaimed series written by Brian K. Vaughan, with art by Pia Guerra and José Marzan, Jr., and the series’ original painted covers by J.G. Jones.
“Co-creator Pia Guerra and I always wanted Y: THE LAST MAN to be the kind of book that you’d want to share with your significant other,” says Vaughan. “This collected edition will be the perfect package for readers to share with their noncomics-reading friends – and I hope they do! The Y virus’ explosive chain of transmission must continue!”
“Everyone here has been very happy to see the growth of Y over the past few months,” says Vince Letterio, DC’s Manager – Direct Sales. “A collected edition will make it easy for new readers to catch up with this exciting story as it continues to unfold.”
Y: THE LAST MAN – UNMANNED (OCT025167) is a 128-page VERTIGO collected
edition suggested for mature readers, and is scheduled to be in stores on December 18 with a price of $12.95.
Retailers may order Y: THE LAST MAN – UNMANNED by calling their Diamond
Customer Service Representative or DC Sales Representative.
Upcoming issues of Y: THE LAST MAN are available as follows:
* Y: THE LAST MAN #6 (OCT020831) is available for advance reorder and
is scheduled to be in stores on December 18.
* Y: THE LAST MAN #7 (NOV020810) is solicited in the November issue of
Previews (Volume XII #11) and is scheduled to be in stores on January 22.
As enthusiasm for Y: THE LAST MAN from consumers and critics alike
continues to increase, DC announces a free 50% overship of Y: THE LAST MAN #6 (OCT020831). This issue is scheduled to reach comic book stores on December 18, coinciding with the release of the Y: THE LAST MAN – UNMANNED TP. Quantities are based on initial orders only.
Y: THE LAST MAN #6 features the start of the new 5-part story arc “Cycles,” written by Brian K. Vaughan, with art by Pia Guerra and José Marzan, Jr., and a painted cover by J.G. Jones.
“With the start of this new story arc and the concurrent release of the Y: THE LAST MAN – UNMANNED TP, these free copies of Y give you the perfect opportunity to recommend the title to new readers,” says Vince Letterio, DC’s Manager – Direct Sales.
“Co-creator Pia Guerra and I work hard to make every issue of Y totally
accessible to new readers, but as the beginning of a new story arc, Y #6 is a particularly good jumping-on point,” says Vaughan. “Thanks so much to all of the retailers for their continued support, and to DC/VERTIGO for their tireless promotion of this series.”
“The response to Y has been huge, and it’s been moving faster than we can print it, thanks to the compelling – not to mention reliable – work of the creative team,” says Karen Berger, VP – Executive Editor, VERTIGO. “Now those who’ve been missing out on the hottest comic out there can get the first storyline collection – and be in at the ground floor of the book that has everyone talking.”
