There are quite a few different mutant powers in Marvel Comics, ranging from oddly useless to incredibly powerful. This massive range of abilities created a classification scale that rates mutants based on their power levels. Exhibiting nearly limitless potential, omega-level mutants rose to the top.

Jonathan Hickman's Dawn of X rebranding of the X-Men introduced a new list of Marvel’s confirmed omega-level mutants. Detailing which specific power of multi-ability mutants affected their status made the distinction between omega-level mutants and others clearer, revealing the X-Men’s most powerful mutants.

Updated on April 1, 2024 by Scoot Allan: The concept of omega-level mutants in the Marvel Universe was first introduced in 1986's Uncanny X-Men #208 by Chris Claremont, John Romita Jr., Dan Green and Glynis Oliver when the futuristic Sentinel Nimrod revealed that Rachel Summers was a "Class Omega" mutant. While some mutants like Rachel Summers have been reduced in their classification over the years, new mutants have appeared with incredible abilities that could one day challenge the others for the title of most powerful mutant.

Key members of the X-Men include Professor X, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Wolverine, Iceman, Beast, Rogue, and Storm. Often framed as the world's second strongest superheroes, after the Avengers, they are nonetheless one of Marvel's most popular and important franchises.
