X-MEN: FIRST CLASS
January Jones talked with The Los Angeles Times Hero Complex blog about getting into the character of Emma Frost. “Fans of the X-Men comics have a very set idea of these characters in their heads,” she said. “I wanted to know as much as I could about her so I wasn’t disappointing anyone. CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER
The Daily Blam! has excerpts from an interview with production designer Rick Heinrichs in the French magazine L’Ecran Fantastique. Heinrichs reveals many plot details, so proceed with caution. One detail I will mention is the flashback structure. While previously discussed elsewhere, the interview appears to confirm the the bulk of the film will take place in World War II with present day material bookending the film.

According to Heat Vision, director Gareth Edwards is closing a deal to direct a new American produced remake of the classic Toho monster. Edwards himself has experience with monsters as the writer/director of the independent film, “Monsters.” With Edward, a new writer will come on-board to craft the tale to his vision. Just one word of caution to Mr. Edwards, everybody knows what Godzilla looks like. Don’t redesign him, please.

ALL STAR SUPERMAN
DC’s Source blog asked Grant Morrison what he thought of the adaptation of his graphic novel as a DC Universe Animated project. His response: “It took only a single viewing for ‘All Star Superman’ to become one of my all-time favourite superhero movies. The adaptation by Bruce, Dwayne and the team is quirky, epic and heartbreaking and I don’t think I’ve seen anything else quite like it. A triumph, as they say!” Morrsion is a great pitchman. The Source also has this new image from the film:

While it didn’t make the list, “2010: The Year We Make Contact” is a somewhat absurd sci-fi movie. Well, absurd because of the dates involved. As a direct sequel to “2001: a space odyssey,” it supposes a 2010 in which manned missions to Jupiter are feasible, the Soviet Union still in existence, and dolphins as household pets. It also suggested certain 80s hairstyles surviving. It is a an interesting look at how easy it is for science fiction to get it wrong. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, bracing for the future threat of “3001: Final Odyssey.”
