X-MEN: FIRST CLASS
Forces of Geek (via IESB) hears tell actress Rosamund Pike may play the White Queen Emma Frost in the film. “One of my FOG! Operatives in Jolly Ole England passed along some fairly solid information regarding Rosamund Pike (“Die Another Day”, “Doom”) testing and very possibly being cast in the role of Emma Frost in the upcoming X-Men: First Class movie,” writes FOG’s Stefa Blitz. He goes on to mention she was seen with an “X-Men Origins” comic. Pike, while quite a stunning lady, is a bit older than Tahyna Tozzi, who played a character meant to be Emma Frost in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.” If Pike is cast, it would indicate the production does not feel bound by concepts established in “Wolverine.” Also, it might mean we’ll see her as a teacher at the school, which I’ve always found adds a great tension to her character and the overall concept.

Pietro Filipponi over at Comic Book Movie has a scooper embedded at the Licensing International Expo in Vegas. While this show happens every year, it has a special significance for followers of our particular subgenre with the amped up presence of superheroes. The CBM scooper sent along photos of the Warner Bros booth:
Meanwhile, Filipponi got an explanation of the “Anyone Can Be Chosen” tagline from a Warner Bros Consumer Product Representative. “That slogan was created with the purpose of showing our vendors the potential Green Lantern movie products have to reach a wide demographic, especially children. It should not be confused with the slogan for the film itself, which has yet to be released to the public,” offers the rep.

SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK
The New York Times reports actress Jennifer Damiano is the new Mary Jane for the seemingly cursed “Spider-Man” musical. ” two theater executives with knowledge of the ‘Spider-Man’ casting said on Tuesday that Ms. Damiano recently signed a contract to play Mary Jane in an upcoming musical, to be directed by Julie Taymor (‘The Lion King’) and begin performances later this year at the Hilton Theater,” writes the Times, but clarifies, “A spokesman for the production said that no new casting for ‘Spider-Man’ was being confirmed at this time.”

And since we’re talking “Spider-Man” casting, our old friend has an update on the Jamie Bell situation. “I’m told that Jamie Bell was scheduled to fly into California this week. The plan is that he will be undergoing a few weeks of camera tests while simultaneously working with a personal trainer to ensure he is able to perform some of the more spider-like stunts that will be required of him. However this is being considered a formality,” says our friend. He goes on to say another production may claim Josh Hutcherson and Frank Dillane is Sony’s back up. Oh, and for a bonus, our friend hears tell of the film’s villain being none other than … the Lizard!?

FANTASTIC FOUR (BEGINS)
Harry Knowles over at Ain’t It Cool News hears of a new name for the the film: “Fantastic Four Reborn.” Harry goes on to say, “We hear this is a complete reboot of FANTASTIC FOUR – and though I’ve ragged like a mutherfucker on FOX for years… I actually do think AVATAR might’ve been a huge lesson for the studio. It should be. If you’ve been watching a lot of the post-AVATAR hiring decisions at FOX – they’ve started working with really great folks and I’m hearing that “quality” might be a new precious commodity. I’m not saying that in about a year, everything that FOX is making is gonna be GOLD… but my cynicism about that studio has changed to a genuine sense of curiosity.” An interesting vote of confidence from a man who once compared “Blade 2” to a sex act.
Release date: TBA
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Vinnie Jones — aka, THE JUGGERNAUT — will be a regular on the series. “Jones will be Scales, a frightening man with a freakish skin condition that gives him the appearance of green and gold scales. The casting marks his first regular TV role,” they write. Will the writers resist the urge to refashion THE JUGGERNAUT’s infamous line for their own purposes? Only time can tell.

Just to illustrate how slowly I play games I buy, I just got to Mexico. According to the stat page, that’s a third of the way through, with only a handful of the challenges done. That said, I thoroughly enjoy Mexico so far. Stopping the train is a highlight of the game. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya bracing for the future threat of Red Dead Withdrawal.
