X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST
A plethora of information about Bryan Singer’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past” has revealed itself in the last 24 hours. CinemaBlend spoke with Singer, who revealed he’s shooting the film in 3D and expanded on playing things close to the chest for the “First Class” sequel.
“There’s things that we’re going to do in this movie that haven’t been done in X-Men films before,” Singer told CinemaBlend. “Stuff involving [time travel], and stuff involving certain technology, and certain science fiction aspects that haven’t been used before in an X-Men film. We’d like to keep some of that a surprise.”
However, Singer has been updating fans via his Twitter feed on casting decisions, including the most recent revelation that “Game of Thrones” actor Peter Dinklage will join the “Days of Future Past” cast in an as-yet unspecified role.
Collider also discussed the film with Singer, who revealed Richard Nixon will be a character in the sequel. The film begins shooting April 15.
“I got the impression that everyone was kind of excited to come back,” Singer told Collider. “The actors from ‘X-Men: First Class’ are contracted to, but the ones I’ve spoken to are very enthusiastic. Jen [Lawrence’s] very excited, I’m with Nick [Hoult] these past few days and he’s excited, and Hugh [Jackman], Ian [McKellen], Patrick [Stewart], Anna [Paquin] — they remember we felt very good about those first two X-Men films back then and I think there’s a good feeling about all of us working together again, and I’m very excited to work with the new cast members as a director as opposed to just a producer.”
If that weren’t enough, Hugh Jackman teased his “Days of Future Past” role to The Hollywood Reporter, with the news outlet reporting Jackman’s role is “large and reunited him with many of the original cast.”
“I first heard about it around October or November ,” Jackman told THR. “I was literally finishing ‘The Wolverine’ and dreaming about lasagna, and about three weeks before the end, they told me. … There was no way I was not going to be part of that.”
Jackman has not yet read a finished screenplay, only an eight-page outline.
