According to That Hashtag Show, model-turned-actress Kota Eberhardt has been cast as Luna, described as someone who is "intense and exudes a sense of power. Although she is a commanding presence, she is also slightly unhinged." Scott Shepherd (The Young Pope) will reportedly play Dr. John Grey, the father of Sophie Turner's Jean Grey. That character was previously portrayed by Adrian Hough in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand.

The website also contends that X-Men franchise veterans Evan Jonigkeit and Gregg Lowe are in talks to return to their roles as Toad and Ink following appearances in 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past. It's possible their characters could be part of Magneto's Acolytes.

Written and directed by franchise producer Simon Kinberg, X-Men: Dark Phoenix will adapt the seminal 1980 Marvel Comics storyline “The Dark Phoenix Saga,” in which Jean Grey is possessed and corrupted by the powerful cosmic entity known as the Phoenix Force, in the process destroying an inhabited planet and placing entire galaxies at risk.

Opening Nov. 2, 2018, X-Men: Dark Phoenix stars James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Alexandra Ship as Storm, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler.
