It was confirmed in January that fan-favorite mutant Dazzler will finally make her live-action debut in Fox’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix, albeit in a small role. Now it appears that The Orville actress Halston Sage may have been cast in the part.
Omega Underground caught a since-deleted photo posted by one of the film’s stuntmen in which head shots of confirmed cast members, as well as Sage, can be seen in the background. In addition, Sage was spotted at a Hans Zimmer concert in Montreal with Dark Phoenix cast members. Fox has yet to make an announcement.
Introduced in 1980 in The Uncanny X-Men #130, Dazzler is a mutant who can convert sound vibrations into light and energy beams, an ability she utilized in her career as a singer.
Sage is best known for her roles Grace on the Nickelodeon sitcom How to Rock and Lacey in the 2015 comedy-drama Paper Towns. The 24-year-old actress also starred in Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse alongside Tye Sheridan, who plays Cyclops in the X-Men franchise. She’s set to star as Alara Kitan on Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane’s new sci-fi comedy The Orville.
Opening Nov. 2, 2018, X-Men: Dark Phoenix stars James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler.
