X-Men star Daniel Cudmore, who appeared as Colossus in the original trilogy, is set to return to the franchise for a mysterious role in X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

Cudmore played Colossus in X2, X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Futures Past and once hoped to return for a fourth time in 2016's Deadpool, though Fox ultimately opted to hire another actor for the role. Nevertheless, Cudmore has confirmed his involvement in Dark Phoenix, but refused to provide more details than that.

Though it is unclear what role Cudmore is playing at this time, it appears that he's already finished with his work on the project, as he recently took to Instagram to reveal it was "time to book another gig."

And just what kind of gig would Cudmore love to book next? The highly coveted role of Shazam in DC's next feature film, of course! Production on Shazam is set to kick off next year, and while various actors have all been rumored for the starring role, the film has yet to announce any official casting -- although that should change "soon."

Opening Nov. 2, 2018, X-Men: Dark Phoenix stars James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Alexandra Ship as Storm, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler.
