The Wolverine clone first appeared on the “X-Men: Evolution” animated series, before becoming a major player in the comics. Currently, X-23 carries the mantle of Wolverine in her own series from Marvel Comics.

According to TheWrap, "Logan" follows, "a government-type operation called 'Transigen' that is turning mutant children into killing machines. Jackman ends up mentoring the girl, who has two claws instead of his three."

The site notes that Richard E. Grant's character in the film is Dr. Zander Rice, a character from the comics who worked on recreating the Weapon X project.
