"Here at BOOM! we're thrilled to be a part of WWE's return to the comic book medium," BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon told the LA Times. "The WWE Universe is a passionate fanbase, and we aim to provide them with the comic series they've always wanted -- a series featuring their favorite Superstars and storylines, a series that highlights the incredible history of the brand. An authentic series that matters."

BOOM!'s WWE comics wont' be the first based on the wrestling network. Valiant Comics was home to "WWF Battlemania" in the '90s -- which, among the contributors, was legendary artist Steve Ditko -- and most recently, Titan Comics published the "WWE Heroes" miniseries by Keith C. Champagne and Andy Smith. In animation, we'll see WWE's Superstars pop-up in "Scooby-Doo! and WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon," releasing on August 9.
