Brian Wood returns to "X-Men" with artist Olivier Coipel in April for Marvel NOW!

Last week, Marvel Comics teased a new X-Men related book for April by writer Brian Wood and artist Olivier Coipel for Marvel NOW!. While speaking with USA Today, Wood revealed the upcoming X-book is a new "X-Men" series, starring an all female cast. "X-Men's" headlining character is Jubilee and other cast members include Storm, Rogue, Kitty Pryde, Rachel Grey and Psylocke.

"I feel like as far as the X-Men go, the women are the X-Men," Wood told USA Today. "Cyclops and Wolverine are big names, but taken as a whole, the women kind of rule the franchise. If you look at the entire world as a whole, it's the females that really dominate and are the most interesting and cool to look at. When you have a great artist drawing them, they look so amazing and always have."

The story begins as Jubilee brings home an orphaned baby that may be key to the survival of the human race. The writer will also bring back the villain Sublime, best known for his role in Grant Morrison's "New X-Men" run -- this time as an ally. Wood noted he looked to Chris Claremont's "Uncanny X-Men" run from the 1970s and '80s and Grant Morrison's first "New X-Men" issues for inspiration, and plans to focus heavily on character with plenty of relationships, love and sex.

Wood's previous run on "X-Men" met with positive critical and fan reaction, as has his continuing run on "Ultimate Comics X-Men." The announcement of "X-Men" begins another exciting week for the writer following the release of his long-awaited "Star Wars" ongoing series for Dark Horse Comics last week.
