Following quickly on a barrage of positive early reactions, it should come as no surprise that Wonder Woman sits atop many moviegoers' list of most anticipated 2017 summer blockbusters.

In a survey conducted by Fandango, more than 10,000 fans were polled on which films, premiering between Memorial Day and Labor Day, were highest on their must-watch lists. While Spider-Man: Homecoming finished a respectable second, it's Warner Bros.' Wonder Woman that took the crown, becoming the first film with a female lead to top the annual survey.
While fans are clearly excited for the film, director Patty Jenkins is simply excited about the excitement.

"People weren't clear whether anybody would want to see a Wonder Woman film and I was always like, 'What? Like, it's Wonder Woman, man. This is such a great character!'" she told Fandango, a movie ticket-purchasing service. "But I could feel that [positivity] coming from the world at moments, so to have that mirrored back, to have positivity mirrored back at us at this moment in the way certain people are reacting to the movie and then that from the audience is like... I just can't put into words enough how grateful I am and we are for having believed in this movie and having the world come back at us that way."

Starring Gal Gadot, Wonder Woman tells the story of the Amazon princess who, after discovering the body of American fighter pilot Steve Trevor washed ashore on Themyscira, sets out to bring an early end to World War I.
Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers … and her true destiny.
Opening June 2, the film also stars Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Lucy Davis, Lisa Loven Kongsli, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui and David Thewlis.
