A trio of rare Wonder Woman comics will soon go up for auction, the sales of which will benefit the anti-human trafficking non-profit organization Trafficking Hope. The three comic books represent major milestones in the character’s evolution and include Diana of Themyscira’s debut in the DC Comics universe, as well as her first two starring roles in comics.
The issues on offer will be All-Star Comics #8, Sensation Comics #1 and Wonder Woman #1. The former is the first appearance of Wonder Woman, first published in 1941, while the latter two saw the character step into a starring role in 1942.
The issues will be sold by Pristine Comics shop owner Darren Adams, who has plenty of experience selling high value comics on eBay. Adams sold Action Comics #1 – the first appearance of Superman – on the auction site back in 2014, netting a record-setting $3.2 million. A portion of the amount was donated to the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, which raises money for spinal-cord injury and paralysis research.
The Wonder Woman charity auction will no doubt benefit from the character’s recent renaissance, Warner Bros.’ Wonder Woman movie having brought in $768,876,840 internationally. The auction is set to begin on August 13 at 5 p.m. PT. More information is available here.
