Warner Bros. has officially dated the highly-anticipated sequel to Wonder Woman. Though talks with Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins are ongoing, Warner Bros. is moving ahead with the sequel to their highest-grossing film DC Extended Universe film.

While the first film found success in the summer, the studio has opted to slate the sequel for a December release. The film is expected to hit theaters on December 13th, 2019.

Although a sequel was expected following the first film's success, Warner Bros. only officially announced it during their Hall H panel at Comic-Con International last weekend, with DC Entertainment President and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns later revealing he has already begun work on the script.

To date, Wonder Woman has grossed $389 million domestically and $390 million internationally for an astounding $780 million worldwide. In fact, the film has taken the top spot for highest North American box office hold of any superhero movie, dethroning Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man from 2002. Wonder Woman has several other milestones under its belt, including being the top grossing female-directed film worldwide.

In theaters now, Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot as Diana, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Robin Wright as General Antiope, Danny Huston as General Erich Ludendorff, David Thewlis as Ares, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, Elena Anaya as Doctor Poison and Lucy Davis as Etta Candy.
