UPDATE: The image has since been deleted.

The trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 gave audiences another look at Kristen Wiig as Barbara Ann Minerva, but not her alter-ego, Cheetah, to the chagrin of eager audiences. Since then, there has been very little in the way of marketing, certainly nothing to further tease the supervillain, until now.

An image has very recently begun to circulate, depicting Minerva after her transformation into Cheetah. The surrounding illustrations indicate that this is from merchandise, as the style is very much in keeping with the '80s theme. The image was shared via Twitter and seems to have originated from a fan who claims to have acquired the image on a poster from Trends International. Prior to this, Wiig has only ever appeared in marketing material in cheetah-themed clothing at most, and never in any state of transformation.

To be clear, there has been no official word regarding whether or not this is a legitimate image from Wonder Woman 1984 merchandise, nor has there been any evidence that unequivocally confirms whether or not this image is real. Even if it is, and it really is attached to merchandise, it is worth keeping in mind that merchandise artwork does not always provide an accurate representation.

Beyond her appearance, Cheetah's story in the upcoming film has also been kept a close secret, along with most of the plot. Aspects of the plot that have been made clear are the fact that Wonder Woman 1984 will feature another villain, Maxwell Lord, and will see the return of Steve Trevor, who seems to have survived his fatal flight at the end of Wonder Woman.

Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot as Diana, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva/Cheetah, Pedro Pascal and Natasha Rothwell. The film opens on June 5, 2020.
