Hugh Jackman goes claws out in this moody new image from director James Mangold's "Logan."

Debuted on the film's Instagram account, the nighttime photo shows the Marvel Comics mutant standing over a body outside an unassuming house. The accompanying caption reads simply "Silence."

The image arrives less than a week after Mangold unveiled a more straightforward shot of Jackman as the aging Logan, as well as a look at artist Gabriel Hardman's storyboards for the film.

Set years after the epilogue of "X-Men: Days of Future Past," "Logan" centers on the efforts of Wolverine and Charles Xavier to protect a young girl named Laura, who has been confirmed as the Marvel Comics character X-23.

“We’re finding all these characters in circumstances that are a little more real," Mangold explained to Empire. "The questions of aging, of loneliness, of where I belong. Am I still useful to the world? I saw it as an opportunity. We’ve seen these characters in action, saving the universe. But what happens when you’re in retirement and that career is over? The really interesting thing to me, or a place to dig that hadn’t been dug, was the idea of mutants when they’re no longer useful to the world, or even sure if they can do what they used to do. Their powers are diminished like all of ours are by age.”

Opening March 3, 2017, "Logan" also stars Patrick Stewart, Richard E. Grant, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant and Dafne Keen.
