Wizard World Chicago 2001 attendance tops 40,000

Official Press Release

Wizard Entertainment, the publisher of Wizard: The Comics Magazine, is proud to announce that its annual multi-media and comics convention, Wizard World Chicago 2001, saw over 40,000 consumers attend the three-day event which featured autograph signings, movie previews, panels and product presentations from exhibitors and guest stars. Wizard World’s special guests included filmmaker Kevin Smith (“Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back”), Gene Simmons of KISS, Kimmie from Survivor, James Marsters (Spike) and Juliet Landau (Dru) of Buffy the Vampire Slayer along with 2001 guest of honor, painter Alex Ross.

“We had a phenomenal time at Wizard World Chicago! It was one of the best cons that we attended this year from every possible standpoint” said Londa Robinson, Head of Marketing for Score Games. This year’s attendance is a 12% rise from last year’s crowds, filling the 275,000 square-foot hall of the Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois. It’s also great news as the company announced plans to launch an all-new convention spectacular-Wizard World EAST in Philadelphia in May 2002.

Plans are already underway for the next two Wizard World events. Exhibitors, publishers and dealers interested in appearing at Wizard World EAST (May 10-12, 2002 in Philadelphia) or the next Wizard World Chicago (July 5-7, 2002) should contact show manager Brenda Cook at 845-268-8068 or fax 845-268-8069 or e-mail bcook@wizardworld.com.
