Terry Crews was long a fan favorite to play Marvel's Luke Cage, and even periodically lobbied for the role himself. But the casting last month of Mike Colter in Netflix's A.K.A. Jessica Jones seemingly put an end to his Hero for Hire aspirations.

However, the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star still has his eye on a superhero role -- one that's out of this world.

While participating Thursday in a Reddit AMA, Crews was asked about his favorite superhero, and which one he'd most like to play. "It's hard to pick a favorite superhero," he replied. "I always did love Luke Cage, and I'm really, really happy about who they cast in the Netflix version of Luke Cage. So that's something that's already done.

"But you know who else I'd like to play?" Crews continued. "The Silver Surfer. I always LOVED -- I thought I had the build, the body, I could get on that surfboard, and if they ever do a live-action version of Silver Surfer, I think that would be perfect for me."

Depending how Fox's upcoming Fantastic Four reboot performs, there's always a chance the studio could reintroduce the Herald of Galactus in the 2017 sequel. And how better to put some distance between 2007's disappointing Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and the harder sci-fi reboot than by casting a 6-foot-3-inch, 245-pound former football player in the role originated by a somewhat less-imposing Doug Jones (with vocal assistance from Laurence Fishburne)?

In the meantime, it's unlikely Crews will be waiting patiently by the phone for Josh Trank's call, as he has plenty on his plate: In addition to his role on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, he hosts the syndicated Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and Fox's new World's Funniest Fails; his big-screen action comedy Aztec Warrior bows later this year.
