This one wins an award for “least surprising news of the day”: Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis will again join Sylvester Stallone and his motley crew of soldiers-for-hire in The Expendables 2. The two ’90s action stars joined their former competition for a first-ever film appearance together in the 2010 original, although the previous film’s cameo roles are described by CAA reps as being much more “sizable” in the sequel, according to EW.com.
We already know a little about the characters each will play after their previous appearance. Willis was Mr. Church, the guy who offered up the job to take down the first movie’s villainous dictator. Schwarzenegger played Trent Mauser, a competing merc who showed up to bid against Stallone’s Barney Ross for the assignment. A Schwarzenegger vs. Stallone showdown seems inevitable for so many reasons, though Willis turning out to be the mastermind and triggering an impromptu team-up would be a nice touch, too.
