Who wants to see Rorschach stalk Batman, or Dr. Manhattan take Superman apart on a molecular level? A lot of fans of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's DC Comics-based fighting game franchise "Injustice" do -- or at least, that's what the results from a recent Twitter poll conducted by Ed Boon, creative director of "Injustice" developer NetherRealm Studios, seem to indicate.

You wanna see Watchmen characters in Injustice 2 ?— Ed Boon (@noobde) November 22, 2016

According to the poll, which completed on Wednesday, out of 20,056 respondents a clear majority -- 74 per cent -- want to see "Watchmen" characters in "Injustice 2." To reiterate the point, Boon tweeted the results on Thursday, pointing out that "3 out of 4 would like to see Watchmen characters in Injustice 2."

Off course, gamers know Ed Boon also has a sense of humor -- he continues to personally provide the iconic voice of Scorpion's "get over here" move in the "Mortal Kombat" games after all -- but is the poll intended to seriously hint at the inclusion of "Watchmen" characters in the upcoming "Injustice 2?" Or is it all a joke at the expense of "Watchmen" writer Alan Moore, who is famous for both his skill as a writer and his antipathy towards DC's further exploitation of the original 12-issue miniseries he created with artist Dave Gibbons back in the 1980s?

Such an addition would, at least broadly, reflect recent developments in DC's comics -- Dr. Manhattan from "Watchmen" was revealed to be pulling space-time strings in the DC Universe in this year's "DC Universe: Rebirth" one-shot, the first in-continuity melding of DC superheroes and "Watchmen" characters, with much more of that story left to be told.

Either way, the sequel to 2013 hit "Injustice: Gods Among Us" is not expected to debut until 2017, so fans will have a while to wait to find out.
