When We First Met – The Cast of Deadpool

by  in Comic News Comment

In this feature we spotlight the various characters, phrases, objects or events that eventually became notable parts of comic lore, like the first time someone said, “Avengers Assemble!” or the first appearance of Batman’s giant penny or the first appearance of Alfred Pennyworth or the first time Spider-Man’s face was shown half-Spidey/half-Peter. Stuff like that. Here is an archive of all the When We First Met features so far! Check ’em out!

With Deadpool’s new movie debuting this weekend, I thought it would be fun to show you all the first comic book appearances of the various characters in the film…

Deadpool debuted in New Mutants #98 by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza…

That same issue featured the debut of Domino, who was secretly the shapeshifter, Vanessa “Copycat” Carlysle…

It was not until X-Force #19 by Fabian Nicieza, Greg Capullo and Harry Candelario…

that we met Copycat’s “true” form.

We all know Colossus, but just for the heck of it, here is his debut from Giant Size X-Men #1 by Len Wein and Dave Cockrum…

Angel Dust made her debut in Morlocks #1 by Geoff Johns and Shawn Martinborough…

Negasonic Teenage Warhead made her debut in New X-Men #115 by Grant Morrison, Frank Quitely and Tim Townsend (she’s the one who has the dream)…

Go to the next page for the last batch of character debuts!

Deadpool’s friend and weapons supplier, Weasel, debuted in Cable #3 by Fabian Nicieza and Klaus Janson (in a story with a bunch of different artists, so I presume Joe Madureira was the real designer of Weasel, who then showed up in the Deadpool mini-series by Nicieza and Madureira, and then this appearance was meant to lead into the Deadpool mini-series)…

Blind Al, Deadpool’s friend/prisoner, debuted in Deadpool #1 by Joe Kelly, Ed McGuinness and Nathan Massengill…

The villainous Ajax debuted in Deadpool #14 by Joe Kelly and Walter McDaniel…

but it took a few issues before we saw him clearly…
