Every week we spotlight the various characters, phrases, objects or events that eventually became notable parts of comic lore. Not major stuff like "the first appearance of Superman," but rather, "the first time someone said, 'Avengers Assemble!'" or "the first appearance of Batman's giant penny" or "the first appearance of Alfred Pennyworth" or "the first time Spider-Man's face was shown half-Spidey/half-Peter." Stuff like that. Here is an archive of all the When We First Met features so far! Check 'em out!

Today we look at the debuts of four notable witches. Jennifer Kale, Topaz and Satana because they actually appeared in a comic book series called Witches and Agatha Harkness just because she is awesome.

In Adventure into Fear #11, Steve Gerber, Rich Buckler and Jim Mooney debuted Jennifer Kale, a young would-be magician...

The Man-Thing, obviously, saves the day...

Jennifer eventually becomes close to the Man-Thing and becomes a much more powerful magician.

Topaz made her debut in Werewolf by Night #13 by Marv Wolfman, Mike Ploog and Frank Chiaramonte...

In Vampire Tales #2, Roy Thomas and John Romita gave us a memorable debut of Satana....

Finally, in Fantastic Four #94 by Jack Kirby, Stan Lee and Joe Sinnott, we meet Franklin Richards' governess, Agatha Harkness...
