WGN America, the nearly 36-year-old cable channel once known primarily for airing Chicago Cubs games, Soul Train and reruns of Bewitched, moves into scripted programming Sunday with the premiere of Salem, a supernatural drama set during the famous witch trials. It also made headlines this week with news that it's developing a series based on Scalped, the acclaimed Vertigo comic by Jason Aaron and R.M. Guéra.

But long before Dashiell Bad Horse and the Prairie Rose Indian Reservation appear on television -- July, in fact -- WGN will introduce another drama, Manhattan, set against the backdrop of the mission to build the first atomic bomb in Los Alamos, New Mexico. The 13-episode series, which follows the brilliant but flawed scientists and their families as they attempt to co-exist in a world of secrets and lies, debuted its first teaser today.

Created by Sam Shaw (Masters of Sex), Manhattan stars John Benjamin Hickey, Olivia William, Liz Winter, Daniel Stern, Ashley Zukerman and Rachel Brosnahan.
