"The Man With No Name" #1 on sale in May

A quick Google search of Wellington Dias and you can learn all you need to know about the man. Not only is he a Brazilian politician, but also an actor and a fourth degree black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

Oh, sorry. Wrong Wellington Dias.

But now that you're reading this story, you can also learn about the Wellington Dias who's landed the gig as artist of Dynamite Entertainment's upcoming "The Man with No Name" series, penned by Christos Gage. CBR News spoke with Dias about the book and his longtime love of the character made famous the world over by a thirty-something Clint Eastwood in MGM's 1960s spaghetti western trilogy "A Fistful of Dollars, "For a Few Dollars More" and "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly," all directed by Sergio Leone.

"I really like this character. It was a great surprise being called to draw him. In all honesty, I thought it'd never happen," said Dias, whose previous work includes "CSI" and "Dr. JJ."

Born and raised in Brazil, Dias said the Dollars Trilogy has made The Man with No Name an American icon in the South American country. "I've watched these movies since I was a child," said Dias. "I remember watching it with my brothers, and even today when I mention to anyone about this character, everyone knows who I'm talking about. The movies series is really popular here in Brazil.

"I've watched the movies a few times in order to capture the right feel of the series, as well as the environments. I also got hold of several Italian Western Magazines as source of references. Good thing is that I've even learned how to draw horses," laughed Dias, who acknowledged having Clint Eastwood as your model makes for incredible subject matter too. "He's such a cool guy. His tough guy manners fit the character just right."

"I like the mystery that surrounds the character," he continued. "I think he's the anti-hero type. Not too good and at the same time, not too wicked."

"The Man with No Name" marks the first time Dias has worked with Christos Gage, and the artist loves what the fan favorite writer is feeding him. "His scripts are very good and easy to understand, he has managed to convey the mood of the movie perfectly," said Dias. "I'm really enjoying it."

"The Man with No Name" #1 is expected to arrive in stores in May from Dynamite Entertainment.
