In February, it was revealed that Seth Rogen and Kristen Wiig will both be guest stars in Arrested Development‘s fourth season. There’s a reason both names were announced at the same time: Rogen and Wiig shot their scenes together.
“I worked with Kristen Wiig,” Rogen confirmed to Comic Book Resources at WonderCon Anaheim while promoting his new movie This Is The End. “That’s all I can say. It was really fun to do that.”
It’s already been announced that Wiig plays a young Lucille Bluth, which means there’s a chance Rogen will portray a younger George Bluth Sr. He wouldn’t confirm either way, but said he has been a fan of Arrested Development for a while. “It was bizarre [being a part of the show], but yeah it was fun,” he said.
Since he only shot a flashback scene, Rogen said he has no idea how the rest of the new fourth season will work. “I actually have no idea whatsoever. And Mike [Cera] hasn’t even told us. We asked,” he said. This Is The End co-director Evan Goldberg teased, “He told me a little something,” and Rogen quickly responded, “Don’t say it! They’re super secret.”
“I’m just saying: outer space. That’s the only word I’ll give,” Goldberg joked, causing Rogen to burst out with his signature laugh. Rogen added of Season 4’s alleged plot, “Talking lizards. All I’m saying.”
Rogen and Wiig join guest stars like Conan O’Brien, Terry Crews, Isla Fisher, John Slattery, Andy Richter, Judy Greer, Liza Minnelli and the cast of Workahloics in Season 4 of Arrested Development. Each of the upcoming 14 episodes will focus on a different member of the Bluth family. The plan is to have the new season lead into a feature film. Season 4 will debut on Netflix in May. Cera acted as one of the show’s writers.
Rogen directed This Is The End with Goldberg. It stars Rogen, Jay Baruchel, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson and more as themselves. The movie is due in theaters on June 12.
