Nearly 11 months after the first teasers arrived for “Man of Steel,” Nokia has debuted the final trailer for the Zack Snyder reboot of Warner Bros.’ Superman franchise. In between, there have been scores of TV spots, trailers, photos and behind-the-scenes videos, so by this point, fans should have a pretty good idea what they’re in for when the film premieres June 14.
Still, there’s plenty to enjoy with this final installment, which begins with ominous music and the solemn voice of Russell Crowe’s Jor-El saying, “Every person can be a force for good … free to forge his own destiny,” before unleashing footage of fights and explosions both on Krypton and on Earth. Perhaps it’s one last assurance to those still stinging from “Superman Returns” that, yes, the Man of Steel will punch somebody this time around.
“Man of Steel” also stars Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as Zod, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Ayelet Zurer as Lara Lor-Van, Antje Traue as Faora, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Christopher Meloni as Colonel Hardy, Harry Lennix as General Swanwick, Michael Kelly as Steve Lombard and Richard Schiff as Dr. Emil Hamilton.
In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. Transported years ago to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question ‘Why am I here?’ Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark discovers having extraordinary abilities means making difficult decisions. When the world is in dire need of stability, an even greater threat emerges. Clark must become a Man of Steel, to protect the people he loves and shine as the world’s beacon of hope – Superman.
