After much anticipation, HBO’s Watchmen television series is finally here -- and it’s a hit with critics.

Following Sunday night’s series premiere “Its Summer and We’re Running Out of Ice,” popular review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes officially certified the premium cable drama “Fresh” with an impressive score of 93% out of 46 reviews.

The Critics Consensus reads, “Bold and bristling, Watchmen isn't always easy viewing, but by adding new layers of cultural context and a host of complex characters it expertly builds on its source material to create an impressive identity of its own.”

The series premiere of Watchmen picked up in 2019, following the events of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ seminal graphic novel. It dropped viewers into a U.S. with an alternate history where police officers must hide behind masks to protect their identities.
