Beloved children's show "Sesame Street" has parodied a lot of adult movies and television shows, from "Homeland" to "Sons of Anarchy" to "Life of Pi," entertaining and educating young viewers even when the references go over their heads. But now, courtesy of Mashable, comes one sendup that stands heads and shoulders above the rest -- and not only because it features Big Bird.

"Big Birdman (or The Unexpected Virtue of Orange Pants)" takes aim at the critically acclaimed "Birdman," with 81-year-old Caroll Spinney -- the voice of Big Bird for 45 years -- suffering an existential crisis as he steps into the role of Michael Keaton.

"How many different ways can you learn the alphabet?" Big Bird asks his alter ego. "Lots, apparently. [...] How did we get here? How did we get to Sesame Street?"

Those are the questions that keep Spinney awake at night.
