Director F. Gary Gray and stars Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez celebrate Cuba in this new behind-the-scenes video for "Fast 8."

"We're special!" Rodriguez says from the passenger seat of a convertible. "We get to come here and shoot!"

The eighth installment of the blockbuster franchise is the first major Hollywood production to film in the island nation since the U.S. embargo began in 1962. That's obviously a point of pride for the cast and crew, to say nothing of some of the Havana residents shown in the video.

"This will go down in Cuba's history," one man says, "in U.S. history, in cinematic history, and in history itself."

Few details have been revealed about the film, beyond the cast, which also includes franchise veterans Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson and Jason Statham, plus newcomers Charlize Theron, Scott Eastwood and Kristofer Hivju.

“Fast 8″ opens April 14, 2017.
